TGIF.....Thank Goodness it Friday Mashup Day!!

Good Morning!! It's Friday and that means the end of the week!! Today's challenge at The Friday Mashup is hosted by Cindy. If you've never checked out her blog you should.

Ok, on to today's challenge:

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project with "Polka Dots".
  2. Create a project with a "Fun Fold".
  3. or Mash it Up! and create a "Fun Fold project with some Polka Dots"!

It was an itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny yellow polka dot........ CARD!!

As some of you know, I like to make my cards match the baby outfits that I give. When I saw the polka dot challenge, I new just what I wanted to do!!
Some of you are thinking, Lynda where did you get that yellow polka dot paper? The answer is I made it. I took my sponge dauber and dipped it in my Whisper White ink. Very easy to do!! Also, when you find yourself without a fish, just punch one out!!

Here's a look at the inside of the card.
It's a flip card and it holds a fun surprise when you open the card!!

Here's the card with the baby outfit! Isn't it cute?

Now it's your turn to head over to the Friday Mashup!

Happy Stamping!!!

It's a Contest!!

Welcome to everyone today! Today's post is going to look familiar. Stampin' Up is holding a contest where Demonstrators can post some of their best stuff and hopefully, they will be chosen to make samples for the display boards at Convention. What an awesome opportunity!!

Well I decided, why not, it's worth a shot so here are my entries.

It was required to do 3 card fronts, 1 scrapbook page and 2 3D items.

3 Cards

This was such a fun card to make. It makes me happy just looking at it.

If you remember my post on this card, I was really quite pleased with the way this card came out. Water coloring is not my normal cup of tea, however, I really like the way this card turned out.

This card is a fun little number that I did based on a cute challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

Next is my scrapbook page.

So the thing I like about this page is the little white piece on the page. That was where I punched my triangles from. After all the punching was done, I looked at it and thought, "that's really cute" so I added it to my page.

Candied Apples are one of my most favorite things. The best is the "Apple Pie" apple. I wanted to give some of these away as a gift, but of course it couldn't be plain. I came up with this little tag to put on it. Leaves, Fall Time and Apples. Who could ask for more!!

Last, but definitely not least are these cute little nugget treats. Halloween is my most favorite holiday. Anyone, would love to receive this little treat, don't you think?

Well these are my entries. Wish me luck and thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Stamping!!

Friday Mashup #156

So I need to apologize, for posting this post so late. My kids are on Spring Break and we went to the Zoo yesterday so things are not functioning normal around here.
Anyway, today's post is Friday Mashup #77 and it's my turn to host the post this week. Host the Post? That sounds like some weekly newspaper column! Oh well. Here is today's challenge.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the "Sketch".
  2. Create a project with the "Ombre' Background Technique".
  3. Or Mash it up and create a project an "Ombre' Background & The Sketch"
If you are new to the Ombre' Background Technique you can see a Tutorial on the Ombre Background Technique here

As you can see, it's a sketch this week with the challenge to "mash" an Ombre background in there. I have seen ombre stuff all over Pinterest so I thought it would be fun to give it a try.

Here's my card.

Sometimes when you start with a card, you have a certain picture in your mind of what you want. Then it ends up not being what you thought, but it still turns out. That's what happened with this card. To make this card, I first embossed the stars with white embossing powder on water color paper. Then I took my aqua painter and ran four different colors across the paper. Because the stars are embossed they "resist" the ink and don't change color. This technique is actually called Embossed Resist.

The colors I used are Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Soft Sky.  I have a bridal shower coming up so I used the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes. Last I found the little sunglasses on one of the rotary stamps that Stampin' Up sells. I think it's the one in the Retro Fresh Suite.

Last, but not least, I put the card all together and a star was born!! Ha! Ha! Anyway, thanks for stopping by to look. Head over to the Friday Mashup to see what the other talented DTmembers did.

Happy Stamping!!

Stampin' Celebration #77

Good Morning everyone!! Today I have the mid month challenge from Stampin' Celebration!
It's a sketch and I also used a little inspiration from a baby gift that I am giving.

Here is today's sketch:

And here is my inspiration that I used

As you all know, I love to take the outfit I am giving someone and use it to inspire my card.

Here's the outcome.

So I started with the yellow and pink for my color combo. I know it's hard to tell in the picture of the outfit, but there are little white bicycles all over the pink jacket. I took this idea and embossed my bicycle in white and then added the little flowers to the spokes. It's also hard to tell from the picture, but like my scallop edge on the card, there is also that scalloped edge along the pockets on the jacket.

It's really fun to look at something and see how it can inspire your creativity!! Now I want to challenge all of you to head over the the Stampin' Celebration site and see what the other DT members have come up with. They are some very talented ladies!!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!!

The Friday Mashup gets in shape again!

Wow, it's amazing how quickly the week flies by. Today's Friday Mashup challenge is brought to us by Avery.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the Colors " Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder & Wild Wasabi".
  2. Create a " Shaped card".
  3. Or Mash it up and create a "Shaped Card using the above Colors".

So I have to laugh, because as I began working on this challenge, I was so focused on making my card a different shape, that I completely forgot to look at the color scheme. Luckily I did pull out the Pool Party color, if by Pool Party you mean Coastal Cabana!! Anyway, this card came together quite nicely in my opinion.

As I began the card making process, I knew I needed a card for my sister-in-law who is having her first baby girl. Now don't get me wrong, I love pink, but sometimes I think there are so many fun and different color combos you can do for girls. This color combo of Coastal Cabana and Real Red is one of my favorites right now.

So to make this card into a "shape", I took the cardstock (5 1/2 x 8 1/2) folded it in half and positioned it on the diecut so that the fold of the card was just below the cutting line of the shape. This way, when I ran it through the bigshot, it only cut the actual shape out on three sides. Next, I stamped the shoes in Black
Staz On, colored them with Real Red and Pool Party ( I couldn't find my Coastal Cabana marker) and then used the tiniest size of pearls for the buttons on the shoes.

I think my sister-in-law will really like this card. Now it's your turn to head over to The Friday Mashup and take the opportunity to get ''in shape" again!!

Happy Stamping!

It's Spring!!!

Today's Friday Mashup challenge is all about Spring. It is sure is looking like spring around here. My weeping cherry is all blossomed out and the daffodils are popping through everywhere!

Here is today's challenge.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the "Scattered Embossing Technique".
  2. Create a project with "Spring Colors or a Theme".
  3. Or Mash it up and create a "Spring project with the Scattered Embossing Technique".

As I looked at the challenge, I thought, the Scattered Embossing Technique sounded really cool. I watched a video on it, (just type "scattered embossing" on Youtube). I then decided to try it out with Chevron embossing folder. Unfortunately, things didn't turn out so well for me sooooooo, I ended just making my card look Springy!

Here it is!

I guess you could say that I cheated a little. My embossing shows up in the gold polka dots. Now here's a little tip. The first time I used some of this polka dot paper, my snail showed right through it. This time I was smart and just put snail behind the polka dots. It worked out great!!

Also, the flowers I made where pretty simple. Just take any size of circle punch you like and punch it out. Next take the triangle punch ( available in the Occasions catalog) and stick the circle into the corner to "knick" out the side. Do this several times around the circle. It's a fun little technique!

Well I hope you enjoyed today's card. Take a moment to head over to the Friday Mashup and see what the other Design Team members have created!!

Happy Stamping!

It's A Celebration!!

Good Morning to everyone!!! Today is exciting because it's another post for the Stampin' Celebration Challenge. I don't know if you remember, but I joined their Design Team last month. Anyway, today's inspiration picture, was a bit of a "challenge" for me, but I was pretty pleased with the outcome.

Ok, so that little bunny in the top right corner is so adorable!!! I just couldn't get enough of him. However, I didn't have a bunny stamp, so I based my card off of the eggs you see right above. If you look at them closely, there are so many different little details on them. They inspired me to go vintage.

So I did a couple things to create the effect I wanted. First I took the doily and used it as a stencil to create the background on the card. Of course, this made the doily kind of brown (I used crumb cake ink with alcohol in a Spritzer) so I just finished spraying the doily and then crumpled it. You heard me right I just crumpled it! Next I stamped my image, cut it out with a circle framelit and assembled the rest of the card.
To give the last finishing touch, I took the smallest pearl and covered the buttons on the telephone with it.

I created this card with someone specific in mind and I find that to be very helpful. Now I challenge you to go over the Stampin' Celebration Blog and see the other design team members have done. They are all very talented ladies.!!
