Friday Mashup 190

Good Morning! Only 5 more days until Christmas!! I can hardly wait and at the same time, there's still so much to do. But today, I have another Friday Mashup challenge for you.

This week's Mashup Challenge is:
  • Create a project using the "Sketch".
  • Create a "2 Layer card with a grungy element in the background".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project "using the sketch that's 2 layers only".

I really liked this sketch. It's simple and yet there are so many possibilities. I find that I am always in need of boy themed cards so I decided to make a birthday card.

I turned the direction of the card since it worked better with my idea. I used the stamp Simply Sports. If you have any little guys in your life, this stamp set is a must have. Anyway, I also used Gorgeous Grunge in the background. How many of you have purchased the Trim the Tree Paper Stack and you're thinking to yourself, "I've only used half of this" well, never fear, there are lots of different patterns that will work for other things besides Christmas. The paper above comes from that stack, but you would never know it. Don't be afraid to look at your stuff in a different way.

Now it's your turn to take the challenge and head over to the Friday Mashup blog. This challenge runs for two weeks. Good Luck!

Happy Stamping!

Gray is the new Silver!

Good Morning Everyone!! Today we are bringing you a new challenge from the Friday Mashup. Cindy is our hostess this week and she's picked Basic Gray and Silver along with embossing.

This week's Mashup Challenge is:
  • Create a project using "Basic Grey or Smoky Slate & Silver".
  • Create a project using "Dry or Heat Embossing".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project "using the colors Silver & Grey with some Embossing".

This is such a fun color combo. It makes anything look sleek and smooth. Here's my take on this week's challenge.

This was a fun card to make. I got the Basic Gray, Silver and dry embossing all in. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the star and "rock star" sentiment are stamped in silver ink. Ahhhhh! So cute. Now I want to challenge you to head over to the Friday Mashup blog and see what the other talented designers have done.

Happy Stamping!

Silver & Gold... Silver & Gold

Hello Everyone! Welcome to my blog today. This week at the Friday Mashup we have a challenge based on the famous song Silver & Gold sung by Burl Ives.

This week's Mashup Challenge is:
  • Create a project using "Silver or Gold".
  • Create a "Christmas Project".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Christmas-themed Project with Silver or Gold".

This one was hard for me. It was even my own challenge. As I thought about it I decided I needed to highlight the cafe bags in the Holiday Catalog. I also wanted to use the cute Nutcracker from Santa Stache. So here's what I came up with.

Isn't he cute? These cafe bags are so awesome. They are the perfect size to give a little treat and they are lined on the inside. You could put anything you want in them. So now it's your turn to head over to the Friday Mashup blog and take the Silver & Gold challenge. Good Luck!

Happy Stamping!

I'm back and it's time for The Friday Mashup!

Wow!! I know it's been a while since I posted and I apologize. Things haven't been exactly going the way I would like them to around my house. Anyway, I am getting things back in order and hope to keep this up as well.

As the title says, It's time for The Friday Mashup! This weeks challenge is hosted by Tara.

This week's Mashup Challenge is:
  • Create a project using the "Sketch".
  • Create a project using a "surprise element, something you wouldn't expect to see on a card/or an unexpected embellishment".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project "using the Sketch and a unexpected Embellishment".

It's a sketch. I always like sketches because I feel like they give me a good reference point to start with.

I really like my card this week. As most of you know, I love to make my own background paper when I don't have something that works for what I'm doing. I used the Gorgeous Grunge and Amazing Birthday stamp sets. My color palette is Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight, Lost Lagoon and Old Olive. This card is as simple as it looks. Stamp all the different stamps as "crazy stamping". Stamp the Amazing Birthday four different times. Cut them apart and put it back together.
Easy Peasy! Now it's your turn to head over to the Friday Mashup and checkout the other gals cards.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy stamping!

FM #180-Let's Get the Marble Rolling

I've said it once and I'll say it again. Happy first Friday of October!! I love this month. The leaves, the weather, Halloween just around the corner. Anyways, we starting our celebration off with a
Friday Mashup challenge. This week I am the host. I decided to use this cool technique called the
Marble rolling technique. It's a fun little thing that takes you back to Kindergarten.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project with the sketch.
  • Create a project with the "Marble Technique".  Link to technique here.
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Project using the sketch above & the Marble Technique".

I chose to use three colors for my card. Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral & Crushed Curry. My favorite part about this technique is how different everyone's card will turn out. I even let my daughter help me. She's two.

Now I challenge you to head over to the Friday Mashup Blog and take the challenge for yourself.

Happy Stamping!!!

FM 179- This Blows!!

I am so excited for today's Friday Mashup challenge. Avery is our host this week and she chose a very cool technique called "Ink Blowing". I watched a couple of different videos on Youtube as well as the link on the Friday Mashup page.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project with "Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry & Basic Black".
  • Create a project with the "Ink Blowing Technique".  Link to technique here.
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Project using the colors above & the Ink Blowing Technique".

Ok, so I just realized I am the "black sheep" this week because I was so caught up in the "ink blowing" technique that I completely spaced the " color" part of it.

Oh well, I really like the way my card turned out.

A couple of things to keep in mind when doing this technique.
1. The colors are more saturated so they won't be as bright as you think.
2. The ink dries pretty fast, so blow flast!
3. If you have alcohol based ink, use that on acetate, I think it creates a way cooler effect.

All I had were water based inks. I tried them on acetate, and they wouldn't dry. They just rubbed off.

I can't wait for you to give this a try. Check out the other Design Team's cards and then join us in the challenge!!

Happy Stamping!

FM 178- In Stitches

Happy Friday everyone! Can you believe it's already been a week since our last Friday Mashup! The week flows by so fast. This week our host is Tara. She's challenged us use vellum & stitching whether it be real or faux.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a Project using "Vellum".
  • Create a Project with "Stitching (Sewing or Faux)".
  • or Mash it up! and create a Project with "Vellum and Stitching".

I find that wedding cards are something I never have enough of, I always need them and they are the hardest card for me to design! I wanted to do a really cool vellum technique I saw on Youtube, but I couldn't find my plain vellum anywhere. I ended up using this vellum instead. I chose to acutally stitch on my card. I like sewing on cards, it's a lot of fun.

Stamping Recipe:
Stamp Set: Good Greetings (Hostess set)
Paper: Baked Brown Sugar, Fancy Foil Vellum, Whisper White CS, Gold Foil Sheets
Accessories: Tag Topper Punch, Itty Bitty Framelits, Heart Punch (retired) Circle Framelits, Doilies, Gold Sequin Trim.

Thanks for stopping by;
Happy Stamping!!

SC 87- Kinda Sketchy!

Can you believe it's the middle of the month already? I know it's flown by fast for me.
Today we have a sketch challenge at Stampin' Celebration.

Sketches are some of my favorite things because they give you a little direction, but still allow you to be creative. Of course as you look at this sketch, you can substitute any shape for a different one.

When I first saw this sketch, I knew that I wanted to use, Kinda Eclectic. I started by stamping directly on the Whisper White card stock, but then things progressed and this was the end result.

Stampin' Recipe:
Stamp Set: Kinda Eclectic
Ink: Blackberry Bliss, Daffodil Delight & Calypso Coral
DSP: Park Lane
Accessories: Basic Pearls, Circle Framelits

I challenge you to take the opportunity to head over to Stampin' Celebration and check out the rest of the Design Teams' creations.

Happy Stamping!!

Friday Mashup 177

Good Morning everyone!! Today's post is going to be quick. Canning season is in full swing at my house so things have been pretty "fruity" around here. Anyway, today's challenge at the Friday Mashup is hosted by Heidi. Here is today's challenge:

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using the "Sketch".
  • Create a project with "Leaves".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project with "Leaves using the Sketch".
Feel free to interpret the shapes with what you have on hand, and also keep the background clean or add strips of patterned paper - crafter's choice!  Can't wait to see what you create!

This is certainly a fun little sketch and of course it uses one of my favorite things......LEAVES!!!

AHHHHHHHHH!!! Isn't this such a fun card? I love the colors: Crushed Curry, Real Red & Tanergine Tango. The stamp set and the leaves!! Go ahead and check out the Friday Mashup to see what the design team has done!! Thanks for stopping by!

  • Create a project using the "Sketch".
  • Create a project with "Emboss Resist".
  • or Mash it Up! and create an "Emboss Resist project with the above Sketch".

I had lots of fun with this sketch. I pulled out some of the new goodies from the Stampin' Up Holiday catalog.

I love everything FALL!! Some of the new goodies on this card include, the Tangerine Tango Baker's twine. The stamp set, Fall Fest & Gratitude for Days and the little wood leaf that comes from Autumn Accents.

Stampin' Celebration in September!!!

Yeahh!!!! It's September!! I love this month, so many fun things happen, school starts, it's the beginning of Fall, and my son celebrates his birthday. Speaking of fun we also have a new challenge for you at
Stampin' Celebration.

Look at these colors!! They are so rich and beautiful. I was especially inspired by the flower in the upper right corner.

As you know, purple is my most favorite color!! The purples I used are Perfect Plum & \Blackberry Bliss. I love how the gold looks with the dark purple. The stamp is Flower Patch & Sassy Salutations. I embossed the congratulations in gold.

Thanks for stopping by & Happy Stamping!

Shake It Real Good!!

Good Afternoon Everyone! Let's just say my day hasn't gone as planned. Anyway, I wanted to quickly post my card because today is Friday. Our Friday Mashup challenge this week is hosted by Lisa.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a Project using "Animals".
  • Create a "Shaker card" project.
  • or Mash it up! and create a "Shaker Card with an Animal".

Isn't that little panda cute? Well here is my little shaker card.

So my shaker is kind of small, but it was fun to use the star framelits to make it a different shape. Also, the little croc is so cute. Now I challenge you to head over to the Friday Mashup and "shake" the challenge.

Friday Mashup #174-Bokeh!

BOKEH! That's right, some of you may be thinking I've found some new slang, but actually, it's a new technique that is super fun to try!
This week at the Friday Mashup, Holly is stretching our paint brushes and challenging us to try something new.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project with the "Bokeh Technique".  Go to the website for a link to a tutorial.
  • Create a project with "Die Cuts".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Bokeh project using a Die Cut".

I thought this was a lot of fun. Here is my project!

Ok, so my color combo was inspired from a sunset. I love the colors orange and purple together especially when you look out across the sky and see them mixing during a beautiful sunset. I also love this stamp set FLOWER PATCH. The sentiment, "Be You (tiful)" is one of my favorite sayings.

The steps to making my card were pretty simple.
1. I did the Bokeh technique as my background.
2. I took my die cut from "FLOWER FLAIR" and cut out the different flowers.
3. I stamped the flower center from FLOWER PATCH in the center of the flowers.
4. I embellished with some pearls and little punched flowers.
5. Last, but not least, I used dimensionals to raise the "Bokeh" part up off the white part. Hope that makes sense.

Let it Snow! and Strrrrrriiiike!!!

Good Morning Everyone! Today is a double header! We have two different posts to look at. The first is Friday Mashup! Since school is around the corner, Cindy thought it would be fun if we went back to our Alma Maters and used them for some inspiration!

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project with " a School theme".
  • Create a project with "Your School Colors".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "School themed project with your school's colors".

Now some of you may be looking at this card and wondering, "What does this have to do with school?" or "Those colors aren't exactly 'snow' colors" Well, here's a little sneak into my past. I went to Snow College in Ephraim, Utah! It was some of the best two years of my life!!! It's located in this small little town, the class sizes are small and I guarantee that it will be some of the best education, your child will have.

As you can tell from the card, their colors are orange & navy. In the end, I thought it turned out to be a cute little card. Now I challenge all of you to head over to the Friday Mashup and bring back those old college mememories!

Sttttttttrrrrrrrrrrike!!!

Stampin' Celebration also has a new challenge starting today!! It's a sketch. Anita created this sketch and I think it's a super fun one.

Since my boys are baseball kids, I thought I would get a head start and create a layout for the baseball pics. Two of my most favorite things on this page are the alphabet stamp set, METRO TYPE and the little guy at the bottom holding the bat SIMPLY SPORTS. It's so fun to use stamp sets to create your backgrounds. Now take a few moments to check out the other DT projects. Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Mashup #171

It's time for another Friday Mashup!

Today's challenge is so cute! I didn't "mash" things up this week, I just focused on the "punch art" aspect but I can't wait to try to pom pom thing. So here goes this week's challenge.

 Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project with "Pom Poms".
  • Create a project with "Punch Art:.
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Punch Art project with Pom Poms on it".

Now I admit, I am cheating a little bit here. I made this card for my daughter's birthday, but it is my one claim to punch art fame and I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

My daughter absolutely loves Minnie Mouse. So I took a picture of Minnie from a book that we have a tried to recreate it the best I could. I don't profess to be great at punch art, but I am pretty happy with how this turned out.

Now everyone needs to take the opportunity to head over to the Friday Mashup blog and check out the other design team members stuff. I get to create with such talented ladies.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!

SC #84 It's School Time!

Happy August 1st everyone!! Can you believe we are already here? The kiddos start back to school in a couple of weeks and then Summer if officially over :(     Now don't get me wrong, I love the beginning of a new school year. I know I'm a little weird but it's so exciting to get new clothes, new school supplies (sigh!!!) and meet all the new friends you're going to make! To help us kick the school year off,
Stampin' Celebration is helping is out. We have a new challenge for the month.

Now my project for this challenge is a little different than my normal project but I thought, hey why not get two things done at once.

Ok, so this is my MDS push for the month. I don't use MDS very often, but when I need something cute, I use this wonderful program to help me out. We just did a luncheon for our teachers as they are getting ready to head back to school. I wanted to give them a little "party favor" and what teacher doesn't need pencils?  I made this cute little tag, created it to be the perfect size to punch out with a 2" circle punch and then tied it to a bundle of pencils.

It says " You're Just "Write" for our school" ! I know isn't it cute? Now everyone needs to head over to the Stampin' Celebration Blog and see what you are inspired to make for "School" this year.

Happy Stamping!!

FM 169- Beautiful Butterfly

Ok, so I am just getting back on my feet after an AMAZING convention. It was so fun to see all the new Holiday Catalog Products!!! I can hardly wait to have them in my hands and show them to you.

Today's card is one that I really like. I love butterflies and I love the color purple, so this card is the perfect combo.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using a "Background Stamp".
  • Create a project with "something 3-D on it".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "project with a 3-D element and a Background Stamp".

Did you know that you can make backgrounds out of any stamp set you want too? This was so fun to do. I pulled out all my purple ink pads, lined them up from lightest to darkest and began stamping. It also was the perfect touch to add a little 3D butterfly off the page.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy Stamping!

Stampin' Celebration-It's a Girl!!

Good Morning everyone!! Today's post is going to be super quick. I am right in the middle of getting ready for Stampin' Up's Convetion in Salt Lake City. Whoo Hoo! I am so excited.
Today's Stampin' Celebration is a sketch by Cori.

Here is my take on the sketch.

I don't think that you can ever have too many baby card lying around. Have you seen the new paper pack called "All Abloom"? It's so gorgeous. I love the colors and the prints. So much fun.

Alright everyone take a few minutes to check out the Stampin' Celebration Blog for the other Design Team members. Some very cute stuff.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!!!

FM168- Happy Together

Good Morning Everyone!! Today at the Friday Mashup we have a new challenge for you! It's all about summer and the colors, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon and Mellow Moss. Whenever I think of Summer, I always think of camping. Now camping is not my most favorite thing to do as a mother. As a child, I loved it.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using the colors" Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon & Mossy Meadow".
  • Create a project with a "Summer" theme . (Beach, Picnic, Swimming, etc.)
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Summer project using the colors above".

So first let me say, this card is very simple by my standards. That's ok though because sometimes you need a simple card, especially if it's a guy card. They don't need all the froo froo that we like to put on cards.

Like I mentioned before, when I think of summer I think of camping.
This week my son is on a boy scout camp. It's the first time he's been away from home
without his dad or I there. I miss him!!! I thought it would be fun if he found this card
on his pillow when he got home. I chose the sentiment "Happy Together" for two reasons,
one because camping always coincides with family and usually we're "Happy" when we get "Together"
and two, I will be "Happy" when I'm back together with my son.

Enough, cheese. Now it's time for the challenge. Head over to the Friday Mashup Blog and see what Summer inspires in you. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!

God Bless America

Happy Wednesday to everyone! I need to apologize for the lack of posting on time for the Friday Mashup. With it being the 4th of July weekend ( a very big holiday in our family) and kids in general, things haven't gone quite the way I wanted them to. Anyway, I promise to try and do better.

On to the post. So this week for the Friday Mashup, Heidi issued the challenge to do something called Watercolor Wash. This was a new technique to me. There's a link on the blog with a great tutorial if you want instructions.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a Project with a "Watercolor Wash".
  • Create a "CAS project or one with Minimal Layers".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "CAS project with a Watercolor Wash".

Ok, so I am super excited to show you my card.
It represents a lot more than just a card for a holiday,
it's a tribute to those who have gone before us and
defend our country and freedom with their lives.

Now if you'll allow me to get sappy for a minute, I just want to dedicate my card to several men in my life who serve their country because they have a great love for it. My grandfather is gone now, but he served in WWII and ended up becoming a POW in the Philippines. His story is truly an amazing one. He's been a great strength to me. Also, my father, 2 brothers and brother-in-law all currently serve in the military. I am grateful for their example as well.

So now, I want to challenge you to try your hand at something new like Watercolor Wash and also check out the other Design Team's cards. They are beautiful.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!

SC #82

Happy July everyone!! Can you believe we are half way through the year? It has gone by so fast! Well since it's the beginning of a new month, we have a new challenge over at Stampin' Celebration!

This picture is sooooooo cute and so inspiring! However, for some reason, my brain was already "on vacation" and I did the wrong sketch completely. I know, I can't believe it either. Anyway, by the time I discovered I had done the wrong challenge, I didn't have time to change it so you're getting it anyways even though it has NOTHING to do with the picture above.

Okay, so this card looks like it belongs back in April. However I fell in love with this stamp set when I saw it in the new catalog. It's called FLOWER PATCH and it only comes in Photopolymer. Now for some of you who might be worried about trying something new, don't be. One thing I love about this stamp is that it's clear. It gives a whole new meaning to "two step" stamping. I also love that the  photopolymer sticks super, super well to the clear blocks. One tip: I have noticed with the photopolymer that you kind of have to break them in a little bit. The first time you stamp with them, they don't stamp as well. The more you stamp with them, the better they do. Just keep that in mind.

Now I want to challenge all of you to head over to the Stampin' Celebration Blog and check out the rest of the design team. They've done a fantastic job!!

Thanks for stopping by and
Happy Stamping!

"Hello" Friday Mashup!

Good Morning everyone!! It's Friday and I am so glad it is. This week's hostess for the Friday Mashup is Holly. She's come up with a fun challenge that I know you're going to love!!

Here's Your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using "Sequins".
  • Create  a "Hello or Hi project".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Hello project with Sequins".

Here is my card.

You know, it's funny how the camera portrays things. This card looks nothing like it does in real life. The colors are all off for some reason. My color combo believe it or not is Coastal Cabana (HELLO), Pistachio Pudding (arrows) and Crisp Cataloupe (Polka Dots). I know! You're thinking, What the heck Lynda. Anyway, I do like how this card turned out. I used the "Epic" Alphabet and I can't say enough about this alphabet. I LOVE it!! It's almost up there with Bermuda Bay. If you don't have it, you NEED this stamp set.

Now it's your turn to head over to the Friday Mashup! and check out the other gals.

Happy Stamping!!

FM 165-I Heart You!!

Hello! Today's Friday Mashup is brought to us by Cindy. She says it's all about the Bubble!!

Here's today's challenge

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using the colors" Black , White/Ivory and one other color of your choice".
  • Create a project using a "Word Bubble".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Black & White project with a Word Bubble on it".

This was such a fun challenge. Word bubbles are such a cool thing right now.
Here is my take on the challenge

I don't know why, but I seriously love this little owl family. So part of the challenge was to use the colors, black, white and one other color. Of course I had to use my go to color, Bermuda Bay. This was a pretty simple card to put together. I used several new things on it.
-Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder
-Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine
-And So Many More Stamp Set
-Point & Click Stamp Set (Project Life)

It's always fun to have new goodies to play with. Now I challenge you to head over to the Friday Mashup Blog and see what the other Design Team Members have done.

Thanks for stopping by and remember always,

Happy Stamping!!!!

FM 163- Kinda Sketchy!!

Good Morning Everyone!! It's almost Summer and today is the last day of school for my kiddos so I am very excited about that.

Today's Friday Mashup challenge is brought to us by Avery. She's provided a sketch and has mashed it with patterned paper.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using the "Sketch".
  • Create a project using " an assortment of different Pattern Papers".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project with the "Sketch using different pattern papers".

Since it's the beginning of a new catalog, I only had a couple of different DSP's that are new. I chose to use the new paper stack called Moonlight. I really like these little paper stacks that give you lots of different choices.

Color Combo: Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Sahara Sand, Basic Gray & Blackberry Bliss
Stamp Set: Zoo Babies & Label Love
Accessories: Hello Honey Ribbon

Take a few minutes to check out the other DT members cards.

Happy Stamping!
