The Friday Mashup gets in shape again!

Wow, it's amazing how quickly the week flies by. Today's Friday Mashup challenge is brought to us by Avery.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the Colors " Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder & Wild Wasabi".
  2. Create a " Shaped card".
  3. Or Mash it up and create a "Shaped Card using the above Colors".

So I have to laugh, because as I began working on this challenge, I was so focused on making my card a different shape, that I completely forgot to look at the color scheme. Luckily I did pull out the Pool Party color, if by Pool Party you mean Coastal Cabana!! Anyway, this card came together quite nicely in my opinion.

As I began the card making process, I knew I needed a card for my sister-in-law who is having her first baby girl. Now don't get me wrong, I love pink, but sometimes I think there are so many fun and different color combos you can do for girls. This color combo of Coastal Cabana and Real Red is one of my favorites right now.

So to make this card into a "shape", I took the cardstock (5 1/2 x 8 1/2) folded it in half and positioned it on the diecut so that the fold of the card was just below the cutting line of the shape. This way, when I ran it through the bigshot, it only cut the actual shape out on three sides. Next, I stamped the shoes in Black
Staz On, colored them with Real Red and Pool Party ( I couldn't find my Coastal Cabana marker) and then used the tiniest size of pearls for the buttons on the shoes.

I think my sister-in-law will really like this card. Now it's your turn to head over to The Friday Mashup and take the opportunity to get ''in shape" again!!

Happy Stamping!

  1. I don't like the color pink, so I just LOVE this color combo for a baby girl card! I'm going to have to remember this. Wonderful card Lynda, so adorable! The pearls on the shoes are just too cute.

  2. Great job on your shaped card Lynda. Had I not read your post I would have completely forgot that you didn't use the colors. That's how great your card was, it made me forget about the second challenge!!!

  3. I agree, so many great colors to work with other than the traditional pink and blue. I love how the red pops with the Coastal Cabana.

  4. Such a cute baby girl card, Lynda! I love the bright red shoes...and I have a great niece that would too! lol I understand forgetting something on a card. I get so focused on one thing at times that I totally forget something else I was supposed to add to it. I have a feeling it happens to all creative people at one time or another. :)
